The U.S. government printed a few special issues for use in the Philippines during and immediately after WWII. ‘War’ notes were printed from previous issues and aged artificially, then shipped into the Philippines to help pay guerrilla units and keep the economy working there. ‘Aviator’ notes were printed from the 1941 series of notes and have a designated serial number range. These were made for pilots flying over the Philippines in case they were shot down in enemy territory, so they could have some money to get by and not stand out to the Japanese there.
Following the war, Victory notes were printed by the US government for use in the newly-liberated Philippines.
