Luzon --- Markings Guerrillas
The Marking Guerrillas were organized by Marcos Agustin, using the nom-de-guerre Augustin V. Marking. He was given a commission in the Sierra Madre mountains by Maj. Russell Barros and authorized to organize a guerrilla unit.
In mid-1942 he was joined by Ms. Yay Panlilio, a U.S. Army Intelligence agent. Their organization was one of the first to accept the leadership of Col. Hugh Straughn, who was organizing an alliance of guerrilla units called the Fil-American Irregular Troops.
After the capture and execution of Straughn in August of 1943, the Markings Guerrillas separated from the alliance and eventually expanded into several provinces. |
