President Quezon purportedly authorized the printing of emergency currency for Misamis Oriental on December 29th, 1941, but all records of the message were lost during the war. According to the treasurer of the area (Ubaldo D Laya), less money was issued than was authorized.
The Oriental Misamis Currency Committee consisted of Provincial Treasurer Ubaldo D Laya (chairman), Provincial Auditor Agapno Flores, and Provincial Fiscal Antonio Tann Yacapin as members.
The Oriental Misamis group issued two distinct series. One dated 1941 (printed in January of 1942) which consisted of 10,000 Pesos. The second issue was dated 1942 and consisted of 34,000 Pesos. This one was printed in March of 1942.
All notes were hand signed by the committee, and some of the paper was commercially watermarked (they used what was available – this could be an interesting area to collect, trying to find and identify the various paper sources used for printing the notes).
